Athol, ID to Clark Fork, ID, 64 miles

Since the weather was supposed to be over 100 today we headed out very early. The group left the ranch at around 6 am, I noticed it was a little cool when we started since I just had a short sleeve jersey and shorts on.

There were about six or seven of us riding northwest in a group for about 15 miles. I followed some of the riders as there were a lot of turns and I didn't want to get lost.
Leaving Cedar Mountain early

Riding with the group toward Hwy 95

Once we got onto Hwy 95 the traffic picked up. We headed north toward Sandpoint. Near Careywood we tried to stop and visit the "Wolf People" but it was closed. So we continued north on Hwy 95.

South of Sandpoint we jumped onto a nice bike trail but it had some areas with roots buckling the pavement. There was a great bike trail across the lake for about two miles.

In Sandpoint we all went to the park where Blaine and Thea set up lunch. We stayed here for quite a while and then Tom, Sean, and I headed out east onto Hwy 200. This road basically followed the east side of Lake Pend Orielle.

Near Clark Fork we stopped for some ice cream. We chatted with a group of motorcyclists who laughed when they heard our group was riding to Minneapolis.

Out of Clark Fork we took River Rd for about 8 miles to the Diamond T Ranch. We caught up with Troy and Ian on the stretch of road. The mountains on our right were beautiful and very steep.

Sean and I shared a cabin with Troy. He got to sleep downstairs and the upstairs loft was very hot due to the heat of the day.

Blaine and Thea cooked a large Pasta dinner so everyone got stuffed.

Now on Hwy 95
