Today we were going to put on a lot of miles. Basically we would ride along Lake Koocanusa for 50 miles and then head to Eureka. While on the lake we would have a lot of ups and downs where creeks enter the lake.
The group left the church in Libby at 6 am. Tom, Sean and I left as a small group and had cool, pleasant weather for the first 40 miles.
Libby Church before ride
We had our first climb up to Libby Dam. After that there were a series of ups and downs.
We made it to mile 46, our lunch stop at around 10:30 am. Everyone was hungry after that many miles.
Sean and I took off after about 20 minutes to beat the heat. It never became really hot, but the last 20 miles east of the lake seemed long as we had a headwind.
We got to the Riverstone Lodge, 4 miles from the Canadian boarder at 1:30 pm, Both of us did some laundry and I cleaned the bikes.
We had a great lamb chop dinner prepared by Blaine and Thea.
